Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Instrumental Music Instructor for grades 6-12 is responsible for the effectiveness and development of the instrumental music program. The Instrumental Music Instructor provides instruction to students at Thurston Middle School and Laguna Beach High School.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

*Teach classes in the field of instrumental music to students in grades 6 through 12.
*Responsible for recruiting, organizing, conducting and promoting the marching band.
*Prepare for and deliver fall and spring concerts for concert band.
*Coordinate pep band performances at home football and basketball games.
*Coordinate marching band performances at annual parades.
*Instruct performers at rehearsals to achieve desired effect.
*Audition performers for specific parts.
*Obtain and work with professionals to instruct students in a variety of music mediums.
*Must work with and build upon the parent booster network supporting the Laguna Beach Performing Arts.
*Organize, promote, and present productions year each year in coordination with the drama and dance departments.



MINIMUM OUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience:
a. Required: Multiple years of experience in the field of music.
b. Desired: Experience in directing pep, concert, jazz and marching bands.
c. California Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in music or the eligibility for a full-time Designated Subjects Career Technical and Education Teaching Credential, which includes 5 years of work experience, with 3 years within the immediate past.

Salary Info

$60,900 to $109,997 (depending on education and experience)
