Job Description

We are currently hiring for 3rd shift positions.



3rd shift hours: Sunday night through Thursday morning 8:00pm - 6:00am. Overtime on Thursday nights when needed. 30 minute paid lunch and $1.50/hr shift premium for working 3rd shift.



We pay double time after 45 hours worked per week!!



Bonus of $1,000 after 90 days employment if you have no absences or tardies!!!



POSITION REPORTS TO: Shop Supervisor



SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES: None



STATUS: Full-time; FLSA Non-Exempt



POSITION OBJECTIVE: Build Barges and barge accessories per blueprint specifications



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Layout, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in shop according to blueprint and layout specifications, in preparation for welding.

  • Setup and adjust welding machines in order to weld components and assemblies using GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW.

  • Plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowance for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal.

  • Move parts into position manually or utilizing overhead cranes and forklifts.

  • Remove high spots, slag and cuts bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, chipping hammers and cutting & plasma torch.

  • Inspect materials, components, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

  • Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments.

  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.



EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:




  • 3 years of production welding and fitting experience preferred

  • Higher vocational training preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and AWS standard welding symbols

  • Previous experience training others is preferred.

  • Experienced in GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW. Knowledge of GTAW is preferred.



PHYSICAL FACTORS/WORKING CONDITIONS:




  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis

  • Must be able to stand, reach, walk and bend on a continual basis.

  • Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment (cold in winter- hot in summer), including work outside all year in all weather conditions.
