The Welder - MIG is responsible for fabricating and welding steel structures, including hydraulic tanks, fenders, platforms, stairs, and railings. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work from blueprints and shop drawings, and a high level of skill in MIG welding.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on mild steel, ranging from 20 gauge to 1-inch thickness
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and setup requirements
  • Use metal finishing tools such as grinders, abrasives, and other hand tools to achieve high finish standards
  • Operate equipment such as cranes, positioners, magnets, and fixtures for positioning and securing workpieces
  • Layout, cut, punch, and drill materials for fabrication
  • Inspect products for defects and ensure conformance with quality standards
  • Handle and fabricate various steel materials, including tubes, angles, and channels (16 gauge to ½” thick)

  • High School Diploma required; Welding degree/certificate preferred
  • 0+ years’ experience as a welder fitter (heavy manufacturing a plus)
  • Strong blueprint reading, math, and measuring skills
  • Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and solve problems on the fly
  • Team player mindset with the motivation to keep learning and growing
  • High attention to safety and quality standards

 

Working Conditions
