Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and Mobile Service standards
  • Travel to customer homes, workplaces, and fleet locations to deliver maintenance and repair services on-site
  • Greet every customer professionally and make them feel confident their vehicle is in good hands — you are the face of the dealership at each stop
  • Operate, stock, and maintain your assigned service truck, keeping equipment, parts, and tools organized and ready for each call
  • Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems suited to mobile service, including electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, batteries, and routine maintenance
  • Explain work clearly to customers in plain, friendly terms, and communicate directly with the Service Advisor so customers are informed if any additional service is needed, including an estimate of the time required for added repairs
  • Execute warranty repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Leave every customer location clean, organized, and with a positive impression of Smith Auto Family

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Service Technician experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent; ASE Certification required
  • B level qualifications, including Diagnostic and Electrical
  • Dexterity, requiring a steady hand and excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule in the field
  • Excellent customer service skills — friendly, patient, and able to build trust face-to-face — along with basic computer competencies
  • Positive, friendly attitude along with an eagerness to improve
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic, on-the-go environment and interacting with customers throughout the day
  • Teammate with the ability to collaborate effectively with advisors and shop staff
  • Ability to learn new technology, repair and service procedures, and specifications
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required — this is a driving role)
