Duties
You will apply established museum standards to catalog and process incoming artifact donations using DONHAMS. Performs technical cataloging, condition reporting, digital photography, and determines appropriate conservation-grade storage and housing,You will act as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for WNY Collections Storage. Monitors environmental conditions, implements Integrated Pest Management (IPM) protocols, and reports facility issues to leadership.,You will schedule, coordinate, and conduct regular physical inventories of the artifact collection across multiple locations, including WNY Collections Storage and outdoor displays.,You will coordinate the physical preparation, documentation, and logistical transport of historical artifacts for internal movements, outgoing loans, and exhibitions.,You will conduct research to support the Collections Committee with accessions/deaccessions.,You will respond to public and command research inquiries and completes technical research taskers for leadership.
Qualifications
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Cataloging and accessioning historical artifacts, storing, cleaning, photographing and marking of artifacts; 2) Preparing collections and objects for storage and shipment, and conducting inventories and implementing inventory controls; and 3) Planning and rearranging storage spaces, revising operating procedures and devising improved storage/preservation methods. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Cataloging and inventorying of artifacts; 2) Storing and housing of artifacts; and 3) Performing research assistant duties to support Museum Curators and Historians Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education
