As the Network Control Center (NCC) Shift Supervisor, you'll lead our overnight operations team responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and responding to events affecting ORBCOMM's global satellite and network infrastructure. You'll provide technical leadership during your shift while ensuring operational continuity, incident response, and exceptional service availability for customers around the world.


This role is based out of our Sterling, VA office and is full-time onsite. As a member of our 24x7 operations organization, this position is assigned to the night shift, providing leadership and operational oversight during overnight hours.


What You'll Do

Shift Operations Leadership

  • Lead and supervise the Network Control Center team during assigned overnight shifts. 
  • Coordinate daily shift activities to ensure continuous monitoring and operational coverage. 
  • Providetechnical guidance, coaching, and support to Network Control Center Analysts. 
  • Ensure effectiveshifthandoffs and communication between incoming and outgoing teams.

Network Monitoring & Incident Management

  • Oversee real-time monitoring of ORBCOMM's satellite communications infrastructure, networks, and supporting systems. 
  • Lead incident response activities, ensuringtimelyidentification, escalation, and resolution of service-impacting events. 
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Network Operations, Customer Support, and Product teams during major incidents. 
  • Ensure incidents are documented accurately and resolvedin accordance withestablished operational procedures and service levelobjectives. 

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor system availability, network performance, alarms, and operational health across ORBCOMM's global infrastructure. 
  • Review operational metrics andidentifyopportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and service quality. 
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures, change management practices, and compliance requirements. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen Network Control Center operations. 

Team Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop Network Control Center personnel to strengthen technical capabilities and operational readiness. 
  • Assistwith onboarding and training of new team members. 
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and customer focus. 
  • Provide performance feedback and support employee development initiatives. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Network Engineering, Infrastructure, Customer Support, Product Management, and other operational teams tomaintainservice reliability. 
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action planning. 
  • Communicate operational status, risks, and critical events to leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Support planned maintenance activities and network upgrades occurring during overnight maintenance windows. 


Who You Are

You're a technically minded leader who enjoys solving complex operational challenges while supporting and developing your team. You remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions during critical events, and thrive in a 24x7 operational environment.

If you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Network Operations, Network Control Center, Technical Operations, Satellite Operations, Telecommunications, or a related technical environment. 
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring technical operations teams preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of network monitoring, incident management, and operational support processes. 
  • Experience working within a 24x7 operations environment. 
  • Familiarity with IP networking, Linux, Windows Server, satellite communications, or telecommunications infrastructure. 
  • Experience with network monitoring and ticketing platforms. 
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to lead during critical incidents and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously. 
  • Willingness to work a permanent overnight shift. 
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily tasks and productivity. 
  • Commitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy.

The anticipated starting salary range for candidates expressing interest in this position is $95,000 – $102,000 USD. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as location, technical experience, skills, certifications, etc.
