As a Network Engineer at Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU), your responsibilities include installing, administering, monitoring, and maintaining company networks and related components to achieve high performance of various business applications. You will also ensure the availability of the local and wide area (LAN/WAN) networking infrastructure and manage the network environment. Additionally, you will develop processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and participate in key process improvements related to the network environment.
- Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for networking systems.
- Support organizational initiatives and goals by participating on project teams and delivering on network-related requirements.
- Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate networks to meet business demands.
- Assist with research on network hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Assist with interactions with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Perform network, server, and security audits, review logs for errors and trends, and ensure proper functioning of network infrastructure.
- Monitor help desk database for entries on networking resource issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate.
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science or other technical related field or equivalent experience; Bachelors’ degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a network engineer supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Route Switch/Enterprise, or CCNA with equivalent work experience
- Ability to review and analyze or interpret data and documentation and to make decisions regarding subsequent actions
- Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance
