Job Description

Position: Nurse Practitioner



Specialty: Bariatric Medicine & Weight Management



Location: Munster, IN & Hobart, IN (travel required between both clinic locations)



 



Education/Experience Requirements:




  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program; Masters of Nursing degree required

  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required; 5 years preferred

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana

  • Prescriptive authority privileges in State of Indiana

  • Board Certification is required to be granted necessary hospital privileges for employment

  • CPR certification required

  • Conveys positive attitude and image internally throughout Community Healthcare System and externally within the community

  • Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills; ability to analyze and creatively solve patient care issues in a proactive and positive manner; ability to apply and modify principles, methods, and techniques to provide ongoing patient care

  • Requires self-direction, leadership, delegation, organization, and teaching ability

  • Communicates tactfully and effectively with physicians, patients, families, nursing staff, other hospital/clinic departments, and the public

  • Demonstrates a professional, positive, flexible and open minded manner with a willingness and desire to go the extra mile

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.  Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients. Knowledge of patient education principles to develop a self-care program.

  • Skills in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency work situations; able to prioritize patients according to their clinical needs; strong time management skills to balance both patient care and chart completion

  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacologic agents used in patient treatments

  • Strong decision making and practice skills
