The Camp Nurse will help provide a quality experience for individuals with developmental disabilities (13 years and up) at a camping facility for two weekends a month
What you will do:
- Plan and make provisions for health care services for people who are participating in the R&R project
- Be responsible for medical management for up to 24 campers ages, 7 to 70 with developmental disabilities and camp personnel
- Oversee the administration of medication and dispensing daily medication, including insulin, nebulizer treatments, and g-tube feedings
- Responsible for medical treatment needs which may include bowel & bladder routines, catheterizations, g-tubes, trachs, breathing treatments and diabetic management
- Provide First Aid and health care intervention in case of an emergency
- Provide healthcare such as reviewing signs/symptoms of illness and advising on appropriate actions
- Prepare, maintain, and complete all health care related reports and forms
- Communicate with families and guardians regarding healthcare as needed
- Ensure implementation of proper health care plans as ordered by physicians
- Maintain an on-going assessment of the health needs of individuals
- Complete all St. Louis Arc required documentation

What we expect of you:
The flexible, respectful individual we see is an innovative and quick thinker with these qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), currently licensed in the State of Missouri
- Two or more years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred

- Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office
- Ability to complete documentation according to the agency guidelines
- Ability to solve problems and make informed decisions independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of best nursing practices
- Ability to undertake a variety of care tasks
