About the Department
The ‘O Rew Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of visitor services and the daily operation of the ‘O Rew Gateway. The Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of interpretive programs that communicate the significance of natural and cultural resources while advancing organizational goals. This role ensures interpretive efforts are well-executed, consistent, and responsive to audience needs. This position is responsible for budget implementation, program planning and delivery, basic site maintenance, and staffing coordination. The role requires a flexible work schedule, including weekends, to support operational and visitor service needs.
Position Duties
1. Works under the direction of the Interpretation Manager to oversee the ‘O Rew Gateway Site.
2. Coordinates consultation with relevant departments and committees for input at the site.
3. Oversee the schedule and staffing of ‘O Rew.
4. Develops Tours and Programming with the Vision, Goals and Objectives of the site in mind.
5. Assists with the budget and applying for grants to directly fund the Center.
6. Conduct Evaluations on visitor experiences.
7. Responsible for the Concessions in coordination with the Interpretation Program on site.
8. Develop interpretive social media, graphics, signage, brochures, posters, visual aids and flyers to use in interpretive programming.
9. Complete administrative tasks such as interpretation summaries, educational supply inventories, and timekeeping records.
10. Participate in required staff training and team meetings.
11. Work collaboratively with Tribal and Partner programs to provide information boards and report on trails, roads, and facility conditions.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. G7: Highschool diploma or GED with five years of job specified experience.
2. Employees must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or become required of the position in the future.
3. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Museum, Cultural Center or Visitor Center Experience.
2. Good Customer Service.
3. Ability to conduct research and create programming.
4. Must be able to write grants and have experience budgeting.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the Yurok Tribe and the community.
6. Be able to work independently and take direction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities. Plans work of subordinates based on priorities, nature of assignment. Develops work performance plans and evaluates the performance of subordinates. Provides advice, instruction, and guidance to subordinates on work and administrative matters. Effects disciplinary actions and determines developmental training needs of employees. Supervises subordinate employees including assigning and reviewing work, evaluation performance, training, taking necessary disciplinary action and making hiring and termination decisions. Use and promote a team approach to management and ensure accountability throughout the workplace.
