Job Description

About Loop1

At Loop1, we turn IT complexity into clarity.

We're a global leader in IT observability solutions and professional services, helping enterprises unify monitoring data, reduce operational complexity, and accelerate decision-making through AI-powered correlation and data fusion. As a long-standing SolarWinds Elite Partner and trusted advisor across the broader observability ecosystem, we work with clients in more than 60 countries, supporting their journey through our proprietary Loop1 Monitoring Maturity Model (L1M3).

Our work delivers measurable outcomes — including an average 95% alert noise reduction, 85% faster mean time to detect, and a 5.25x return on IT spend for our clients.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Sri Lanka, we are a global team of 110+ professionals united by three core values:

  • We are greater than me — we thrive on learning from each other.
  • We are purposeful — we help organizations move faster and deliver measurable value.
  • We do the right thing — we are committed to the success of our clients, partners, and each other.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Observability Engineer to join our global delivery team — someone who enjoys solving real operational challenges with monitoring and observability platforms, and is ready to grow into client-facing engineering work.

In this role, you'll work across a vendor-agnostic portfolio of observability tools, optimizing how clients monitor, alert, and respond to issues across complex IT environments. You'll partner with consultants, architects, and project managers to deliver measurable outcomes aligned to the L1M3 maturity framework.

This is more than a platform administration role — it's a career path. Loop1 invests in our engineers through a structured pathway that builds capability across platforms, client communication, and consultative thinking.

What You'll Do

Platform Delivery & Optimization

  • Administer, configure, and optimize observability platforms across diverse client environments
  • Manage alert tuning, dashboard design, polling configuration, and platform health
  • Lead routine maintenance, upgrades, and performance improvements
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and configuration records to a high standard

Monitoring & Observability Practice

  • Apply observability best practices across infrastructure, application, network, and cloud environments
  • Support alert quality improvements — reducing noise and improving signal accuracy
  • Contribute to monitoring standards, alerting strategies, and governance
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis

Client Interaction & Delivery

  • Engage with clients in a clear, professional, and service-focused way
  • Participate in service reviews, technical updates, and platform discussions
  • Support consultative conversations on platform health and maturity
  • Build confidence in translating technical detail into business outcomes

Team Contribution

  • Work alongside Architects, Consultants, and Project Managers across engagements
  • Mentor Associate Observability Engineers and support onboarding
  • Share knowledge across the team to strengthen Loop1's collective capability

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in IT operations, monitoring, or infrastructure support
  • Demonstrable experience administering at least one observability or monitoring platform in production (e.g., SolarWinds, ManageEngine, PRTG, BigPanda, AppViewX, or equivalent)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with structured troubleshooting habits
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced service environment
  • A degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Vendor certifications (e.g., SolarWinds Certified Professional, ManageEngine, PRTG, or equivalent)
  • ITIL 4 Foundation or equivalent service management experience
  • Background in managed services, professional services, or consulting environments
  • Familiarity with AIOps concepts, event correlation, and ITSM integrations (ServiceNow primary)
  • Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python)

What You'll Work With

Loop1 is intentionally vendor-agnostic. As an Observability Engineer, you'll develop depth across multiple platforms and technologies, including:

  • Observability & Monitoring: SolarWinds Orion / Hybrid Cloud Observability, ManageEngine OpManager and Site24x7, PRTG, Zabbix, and equivalents
  • AIOps & Event Management: BigPanda and similar AIOps platforms — alert correlation, noise suppression, ITSM integrations
  • Network & Security Automation: AppViewX CERT+ and AUTOMATION, and equivalents
  • Supporting Technologies: ServiceNow (primary ITSM), PowerShell, Python, VMware, AWS, Azure, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, SNMP, syslog)

Why Loop1

  • Global impact — work with enterprise clients across more than 60 countries
  • Vendor-neutral expertise — develop breadth across the observability ecosystem, not just one platform
  • A defined career path — structured progression with clear development milestones
  • Outcome-focused work — your work delivers measurable business value, not just tickets closed
  • A culture built on our values — collaborative, purposeful, and grounded in doing the right thing
  • Hybrid and remote flexibility — aligned to your regional location

Working Conditions

This role operates on standard business hours aligned to your regional location, with occasional flexibility to support client-critical activities or project milestones. This is not a shift or on-call role.

Equal Opportunity

Loop1 is proud to be an equal-opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity, parental or pregnancy status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
