Job Description

About the Department

The front desk position is an administrative support function under general supervision of the Human Resources Director. Example of Duties: Serves visitors, guests and vendors by greeting, welcome, and directing them appropriately; notifies WVSP staff of visitor arrivals; answers and directs telephone calls appropriately; maintains visitor logs and keeps updated contact lists; records mail and deliveries and notifies staff accordingly; ensures proper opening and closing procedures of the front entrance to Headquarters building. Perform related work as required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in routine office work.
Substitution: College hours, related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
Special Requirements: A successful background check.

Retirement Plan:
  • As WV public employees, all full-time public employees are required to participate with the Public Employees Retirement Plan, regulated by the Consolidated Public Retirement Board.  Employees hired on or after July 1, 2015 will be members of the PERS II plan, contributing 6% of their gross monthly salary.  WV State Police contributes 10% of the member’s gross monthly salary for a combined total of 16%.  Please visit https://www.wvretirement.com/PERS-TierII.html to explore the Retirement Benefits and Requirements.

  • All full-time employees for the WV State Police recieve a yearly $500 longevity salary increase.
  • All full-time employees earn 15-24 paid vacation days per year depending on longevity.
