Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent is to present for work in a timely manner, groomed professionally, and perform their job function in accordance with all Spring View Hospital standards of performance, policies and procedures.  Each employee is responsible for upholding the Spring View Hospital Values, namely: respect for every individual, delivery of quality service, constant pursuit of excellence and commitment to integrity.  In addition, each employee is responsible to abide by and uphold the Spring View Hospital Standards of Performance.

 

The Medical Assistant, under the direction and supervision of the NP/PA, is responsible for the care of the patient and family utilizing age appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice specialty.  The Medical Assistant demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; addresses health educational needs for patients, families and other health care providers; manages patient care assignments as well as other organizational tasks related to the office operations; and applies knowledge of growth and development in patient interactions.  The Medical Assistant must possess the ability to take vital signs, draw blood and assist with computer and billing information. 


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous medical office billing and coding experience required
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in PC skills with the ability to use the office’s systems, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Word and Athena.
  • Medical Assisting certification preferred
