Key Responsibilities

Are you looking for a new challenge in a team-oriented office environment? Do you have exceptional
office support skills, customer service and experience? If so, the Utah State Board of Education (USBE)
is looking for a hardworking, organized individual to fill an Office Specialist II position. As an Office
Specialist II at USBE, you will provide office support for staff and educational programs that directly
impact the students of this great state.


Principal Duties

As an Office Specialist II at USBE, you may perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Provide administrative support to specialists, coordinators and other staff
  • Maintain files and databases
  • Prepare and/or process documents and applications
  • Receive calls and visitors, provide information on processes and website navigation
  • Write or draft correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials
  • Perform background check fingerprint processing
  • Maintain calendars, plan and assist with events, conferences, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Daily responsibilities include working with emails, phone inquiries, website navigation, process fingerprint records, and explaining policies and procedures for various license-related support for new and existing Utah educators.

  • Ability and willingness to adapt to new technologies and take initiative
  • Exceptional office support skills
  • Customer service and de-escalation skills
  • Effective data entry skills using various computer applications and databases
  • Experience providing administrative support to staff
  • The ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Good organizational skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer skills in typing (45 wpm), 10 key (preferred) and website navigation
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
