PURPOSE


 


The Columbia Public School District is seeking a part-time Human Resources Assistant that specializes in hiring.


 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES



  • Assist with recruitment and retention initiatives including Grow Your Own programming.

  • Review and access applicant documentation to determine hire eligibility.

  • Process recommendations to hire in Applicant Tracking software.

  • Assist HR Supervisor with documentation related to employee compensation including stipends, contracts, and notifications of employment.

  • Maintain accurate records of new hires and ensure timely processing of employee life cycle documents.

  • Send communication to hiring managers related to applicant status during the hiring process.

  • Respond to employee communications regarding HR processes

  • Perform other clerical or administrative duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the district.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS


 


Reports To: Human Resources Office Supervisor


 


Supervises: None


 


QUALIFICATIONS


 


Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent, plus three years of administrative experience. Must have a valid Driver's license and reliable form of transportation. Must be able to work on site, schedule must be available to work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm (mornings or split days). 


 


Preferred: College Degree; hiring and recruiting experience; Experience with Business Plus (HRIS system)


 


Ideal candidate will have experience with HRIS systems or comparable database systems with a good understanding of human resource and payroll processes. Previous work that demonstrates organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines without supervision.  Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is critical. Professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals while maintaining confidentiality.

Language: Read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals; Write reports and correspondence; Answer telephone calls and direct callers to appropriate personnel; Demonstrate strong listening skills; Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills


 


Reasoning: Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; Solve problems when such problems have a variety of concrete variables. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


 


Technology: Demonstrate strong computer skills including word processing and working with spreadsheets and databases; understand and submit online reports; Learn new systems and software.


 


Other Skills: Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with a variety of staff members; Safeguard confidential information. Be a self-starter and work independently.


 


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to move about, talk, and hear; Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required.


 


Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.


 


Conditions and Environment: The work environment is consistent with a typical office environment; at times, many staff members may be present and speaking simultaneously.
