Job Summary

The Assembly Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading daily assembly production activities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are achieved. This role supervises assembly technicians and production staff, drives operational efficiency, enforces discipline and standard work, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.

The supervisor is expected to create a high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

Production Operations Management

  • Supervise daily assembly line operations to ensure production schedules and output targets are met
  • Monitor workflow, manpower allocation, and line balancing to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure assembly processes are executed according to work instructions, SOPs, and quality standards
  • Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse teams to support production flow
  • Drive operational execution to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals
  • Escalate material shortages, equipment downtime, and operational risks impacting production

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop assembly technicians, team leads, and production personnel
  • Conduct daily startup meetings to communicate safety, quality, and production expectations
  • Enforce discipline, attendance, accountability, and company policies consistently
  • Build a culture of teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development activities
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and corrective actions when necessary

Quality & Process Improvement

  • Ensure products are assembled according to customer specifications and quality requirements
  • Drive improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY) and reduction of workmanship defects
  • Monitor defect trends and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring issues
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering teams on root cause analysis (RCA) activities
  • Promote adherence to ESD, safety, and manufacturing best practices
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with all company safety policies
  • Ensure employees follow PPE, ESD, and operational safety requirements
  • Report and investigate safety incidents and near misses promptly
  • Support audits and maintain compliance with manufacturing standards and procedures

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide daily production updates, staffing reports, and operational metrics to management
  • Monitor and report KPIs including throughput, downtime, labor efficiency, and quality performance
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on priorities and production goals
  • Conduct proper shift handoffs and communicate outstanding issues clearly

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or assembly operations
  • Strong understanding of production assembly processes and manufacturing operations
  • Experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to drive accountability and operational discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in server manufacturing, electronics assembly, or data center hardware production
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience working with hyperscale server platforms and rack-level assembly
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and production tracking tools
