About the Role
Steve Tate & Sons Plumbing is seeking a skilled and reliable Plumbing Retrofit Technician to join our growing team specializing in overnight remodels and retrofits for grocery stores. This is a critical, high-impact role focused on upgrading plumbing systems in active retail environments during off-hours to minimize disruption to store operations.
This position is ideal for experienced plumbers who prefer working nights, enjoy fast-paced project work, and take pride in delivering clean, efficient retrofits under tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform plumbing retrofits, repairs, and system upgrades in grocery store environments
- Work overnight shifts to complete projects within strict time windows
- Install, modify, and replace piping, fixtures, drains, and water systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, specs, and retrofit plans
- Ensure all work meets code requirements and company quality standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
- Coordinate with team members, project managers, and store personnel
- Travel to job sites as needed (regional projects, occasional overnight stays)
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial plumbing experience (retrofit/remodel experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to work overnight shifts consistently
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in active retail environments with tight deadlines
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
- NC plumbing license (preferred but not required)
