Job Description

Southeastern Illinois College is seeking a part-time (up to 28 hrs per week) Accounts Receivable Clerk. This person will be responsible for accounts receivable, collections, billing, student payment plans, petty cash, the corresponding general ledger accounts, and operation of the cashier windows. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, accounting knowledge, and the ability to provide excellent service to students, staff, and the public.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Receive, reconcile, and balance all daily funds received through the Business Office; prepare journal entries as needed.
  • Provide cashier window coverage in the Business Office.
  • Prepare billings for individuals, agencies, and organizations with financial obligations to the college.
  • Maintain and reconcile the college’s general ledger receivable accounts and ensure accounts are audit-ready.
  • Prepare student account refund documentation and forward materials to Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain the online collections program and process returned checks.
  • Maintain and balance the petty cash fund.
  • Prepare reports and perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree required. Associate Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with computerized bookkeeping practices.
  • Experience handling cash and performing daily cash balancing.
  • Experience working with the public in a professional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
