Job Summary: This position is responsible for the prompt and accurate retrieval and delivery of equipment and automotive parts from local vendors and outlets to various city maintenance locations. Please note: Hours and schedule may vary (est. to be 4-5 hrs/day and 20-25 hrs/week) and will be discussed in more depth during the selection process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acquires and delivers automotive and equipment parts from local vendors to various maintenance locations within the city, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Coordinates with Equipment Maintenance Mechanics and the Inventory Control Specialist to fulfill parts requests and retrieve supplies and materials, ensuring an efficient workflow.
- Verifies the accuracy of orders, including parts, supplies and materials, by confirming details such as manufacturer, type, and unit of measure (length, width, diameter, volume, metric, standard, thread count, etc.)
- Handles returns or exchanges to ensure parts are transported back to the vendor or supplier as needed.
- Operates City-owned vehicles responsibly, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Provides excellent customer service by communicating effectively with vendors and team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid South Dakota Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days from date of hire.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate the city efficiently.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
