Job Summary
The Lamar University Athletics Ticket Office is seeking dependable, professional, and customer-focused Athletic Ticket Office Student Assistants / Work-Study eligible students to support ticket sales, game-day ticket operations, customer service, and office duties. This position provides hands-on experience in athletic ticket operations, event management, ticketing, cash handling, and customer service.
Essential Job Functions
Essential Job Functions / Position Responsibilities
- Assist with ticket sales during athletic events and office hours.
- Provide excellent customer service by phone, email, and in person.
- Assist patrons with ticket questions, seating concerns, mobile ticketing issues, and general event information.
- Verify, distribute, and assist with will-call tickets and player pass lists in compliance with current NCAA regulations.
- Scan tickets and assist with entry at athletic events.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions securely and accurately.
- Help reconcile events, balance cash sheets, and follow Ticket Office procedures.
- Assist with event-day setup, ticket windows, gates, parking, guest lists, and other game-day responsibilities as assigned.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned, including filing, data entry, and correspondence with single-game ticket holders, season ticket holders, and other universities’ athletic departments.
- Answer phone calls and assist customers with ticket-related questions.
- Make outbound group sales calls for non-revenue sports as assigned.
- Assist other departments within Athletics as assigned.
- Assist with ticket sales during athletic events and office hours.
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current Lamar University student in good standing.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Professional demeanor and reliability.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and athletic event days.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
- Ability to handle cash, credit card transactions, and customer information responsibly.
Preferred Qualifications- Federal Work-Study eligible student.
- Previous customer service, retail, food service, front desk, ticketing, or event experience.
- Interest in athletics, sports operations, ticketing, or event management.
- Availability to work athletic events, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work scheduled office hours when available.
- Must be a current Lamar University student in good standing.
