About the Role:
The Patient Care Tech II plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients within a healthcare setting. This position involves assisting nursing staff by providing direct patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Patient Care Technician training program or equivalent clinical experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proven experience in a healthcare setting providing direct patient care.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required by the employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Experience working in acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings.
- Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or EKG Technician credentials.
- Strong familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated skills in patient communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding as needed.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, and report any abnormalities to nursing staff.
- Support patient mobility by assisting with ambulation, repositioning, and transfers to prevent complications such as pressure ulcers.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide emotional support and respond to their needs and concerns.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to implement patient care plans and ensure continuity of care.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic health records or paper charts.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, ensuring timely assistance and attention.
