Summary
Windy City Cannabis is hiring a People & Talent Coordinator to join our team! This pivotal role will be responsible for executing full life cycle recruiting efforts to hire top talent for teams across the organization. This role combines expertise in sourcing and hiring with co-leading efforts to enhance the applicant tracking system (ATS) and tools to create seamless and efficient recruitment workflows. As a member of the Human Resources team, you'll also contribute to the refinement of strategic hiring practices, training & development, and performance management to ensure Windy City Cannabis attracts and retains top-tier talent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Full-cycle Recruitment: Lead the end-to-end hiring process for retail hourly roles, from sourcing, screening, and debrief, to interview coordination and offer negotiation, ensuring an exceptional candidate experience.
- Executive Recruitment: Assist with the recruitment of senior-level and hard-to-fill positions.
- Process Efficiency & Compliance Management: Continuously evaluate and improve recruitment processes, seek automation opportunities, leveraging technology and data to enhance operational efficiency and scalability, regularly audit job descriptions and hiring material to ensure alignment with internal policies, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain a strong relationship with candidates and hiring managers. Partner with hiring managers to understand business needs, deliver customized hiring strategies, and provide a seamless recruitment process.
- Creative Sourcing: Use innovative and proactive sourcing methods, including advanced use of LinkedIn Recruiter and other tools, to build robust talent pipelines for current and future needs.
- Data-driven Decision-making: Leverage recruitment metrics and analytics to inform strategies, improve team performance, and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Strategic Contributions: In collaboration with the Director of HR, develop creative sourcing strategies to attract passive and active candidates, workforce planning, diversity hiring goals and manage execution of strategic plans.
- DE&I Initiatives: Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion by integrating these principles into recruitment practices, tools, and outreach strategies.
- Recruitment Campaigns: Support hiring initiatives including events at store locations and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Retention & Employer Branding: Support the Director of HR on strategic retention initiatives and identify employer branding opportunities to enhance the company's reputation as an employer of choice.
- Training & Development: Assist in leading performance management for the organization. Develop engaging and effective training materials to ensure alignment on processes, materials, and tools.
- New Team Member Experience: Assist in the onboarding process for new hires.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting or HR support in a retail setting or the cannabis industry preferred.
- Proven track record in implementing recruitment strategies, sourcing methods, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, or equivalent years of related professional work experience may substitute.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to obtain a dispensing agent identification card issued by the state of Illinois.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Wurk preferred), ATS platforms, LinkedIn Recruiter or similar tools.
- Ability to manage multiple requisitions in varying stages while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to navigate ambiguity and identify process improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization and with prospective candidates.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Outstanding customer service skills, positive attitude, team player and strong work ethic.
- Must maintain compliance with all applicable state and local laws, regulatory requirements, and company policies related to the cannabis industry.
- Must be able to remain focused, pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to travel between sites when necessary (less than 15%).
- Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and using wrist, hands, and fingers for substantial repetitive movements and gross manipulation to operate equipment like computers and phones. Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
