Physician Extender
Entity: Alliance Orthopedics
Reports To: Clinical Director
As a Physician Extender, you are an integral part of our sports medicine team of medical doctors, orthopedic surgeons, functional medicine practitioners, and pain management physicians. Our Physician Extenders function as the medical liaisons to our conservative care team of chiropractors, physical therapists, clinical athletic trainers, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, and more! The ideal candidate will be certified in Athletic Training with a background in clinical settings.

Summary of Responsibilities:
- Build rapport and relationships with our patients, understand their goals
- Primary responsibility pertains to medical care coordination
- Obtain clinical history and perform preliminary assessments/evaluations
- Organize physician schedules, notes, imaging studies, care plans, etc.
- Record patient vitals, test results, progress notes, and other medical information while maintaining strict confidentiality
- Become the compassionate liaison between the physician and patient, providing support, attention, and encouragement to the patients and their families
- Conduct post-procedure next day follow-up
- Facilitate distribution of necessary Durable Medical Equipment
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations including but not limited to, HIPAA and OSHA
- Partner with the Clinic Supervisor to execute additional administrative duties
- Stand out as a valuable team member, bringing energy in collaboration with all other healthcare disciplines in a team setting to help our patients get BETTER EVERYDAY!
Requirements:
- Valid New Jersey Athletic Trainer License REQUIRED
- Degree from and accredited Athletic Training Education Program
- 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with OTC certification
- Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for scope of practice
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills, especially the ability to show compassion for patients coming from all walks of life
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Willingness to challenge patients, other team members, and yourself!
