Job Description

Position Summary

Works under limited direction to be responsible for installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.

Pay Grade: 51H

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of plumbing experience after acquiring Journeyman license.
  • High school or possess a GED.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION; TRAINING; AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
     

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage
  • systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand tools and
  • power tools.
  • Cuts and threads pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of various metals and non-metals.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing, mending, and opening systems as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
     

KSAs

  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of
  • plumbing tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of metal and non-metal piping and their properties.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Knowledge of measurements.
  • Ability to interpret building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
     

Physical Requirements

  • Must pass a physical examination.
     

Special Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal history background check.
  • Must be able to work in a jail environment.
