Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Level I and II - Under general supervision, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of plumbing and piping systems and equipment.

Level I - Performs the most basic form of plumbing skills

UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Wears company issued uniform.  Works inside and outside in varying weather conditions. Works around dust and  fumes. May be required to wear hardhats, gloves, boots, belts, dust masks, goggles, and ear plugs as work conditions vary.  Works in small confined area at times.  Required to work weekends. Requires a clean DMV printout at time of employment.

JOB TASKS (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
Level I and II:

- Install and maintain air, gas, water, and sewer pipes, fittings and fixtures according to CA plumbing codes.
- Cut and thread a variety of pipe such as ABS, PVC, copper, and  galvanized steel.
- Identify causes for gas, water and sewer leaks and malfunctions.
- Replace worn or inadequate pipe, valves, fixtures and traps.
- Test pipe systems for proper operation and determine requirements for additional equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.



RELATIONSHIPS INTERNAL:
All levels of Santa Cruz Seaside Company Team Members. 



RELATIONSHIPS EXTERNAL:
Contact with sub contractors, vendors, and city workers. Minimum contact with Guests.



TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Level I - Minimum 2 years trade school or field experience maintaining residential or commercial plumbing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Level I and II:
- Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical power and hand tools.
- Knowledge of California plumbing codes.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems and piping.
- Ability to track and identify causes of plumbing system leaks or malfunctions and make repairs independently.
- Ability to install, repair and maintain a variety of plumbing and piping systems and equipment.
- Ability to learn how to read, interpret and work from blueprints, schematic diagrams, plans and  specifications.
- Ability to learn to estimate materials and cost of plumbing.
- Ability to follow safety practices and proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to document work.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work as a part of a team.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 70 pounds from floor to waist.
- Able to stand and walk for 7 and one half hours and to climb a 16-foot ladder.
- Able to work at heights up to 60' in a man lift basket or on rides with a catwalk.
- Bi-manual dexterity and able to work in confined spaces.
- Able to read instruction manuals.
- Able to safely perform heavy, fatiguing work:  crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and lifting materials and equipment.


LICENSES AND INSURANCE:
Valid U.S. driver's license at time of hire.


TESTING:
Written Plumber test:  Level I - minimum 65% passing score, Level II - 75% passing score
DMV Print out and proof of valid Drivers License.
