Your Impact

The Mechanical Engineering Department is vital to the success of Thriven Design. We are seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection System Designer with a minimum of two years of experience in finding practical, code-compliant solutions from concept through construction for multi-family, commercial, educational, and healthcare (both new construction and retrofit).

We value candidates with prior experience in plumbing and fire protection design, as it often reflects a demonstrated commitment to the field and a clear interest in developing long-term expertise in this discipline.

This is a full time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on design of plumbing and fire protection systems across a variety of project types
  • Manage tasks across multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail and quality
  • Prepare clear, concise technical documentation and specifications.

Education, Experience and Compensation

  • Education: B.S. in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience:
    • Preferred: 2+ years of relevant plumbing/fire protection design experience.
    • Considered: Entry-level candidates with strong academic background and demonstrated interest in building systems design.
  • Licensure/Certification: EIT preferred; PE and/or LEED accreditation a plus but not required
  • Compensation: $60,000 � $75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to plumbing and/or fire protection system design through internships, co-ops, or prior employment
  • Familiarity with applicable codes (NSPC, IPC, IBC, NFPA standards, etc.)
  • Experience with Archicad or other BIM applications.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with an interest in practical, buildable solutions
  • Demonstrated interest in building systems design as a long-term career path (coursework, internships, or prior experience)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
