Job Description

Position:  Portfolio Manager


Department:  Sales


Reports To:  Vice President of Marketing & Sales


FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt


Hours: Monday – Friday, 40+ hours per week


Pay Range: The approximate pay range is $96,941 - $145,412. Please note that pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Within this range, compensation will be based on the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and other qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.

Position Summary:
The Portfolio Manager will have global portfolio responsibility for select Wipaire Commercial and Recreational commercialized products & STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates).  This individual will participate in and lead global cross-functional project teams on a variety of product and sales-related initiatives. Additionally, the person in this role will have business development responsibility for analyzing, prioritizing, and exploring product modifications, new product needs, and new market segments.  This position will report directly to the VP of Marketing & Sales; however, will also be accountable to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).  


Primary Responsibilities:



  1. Drives portfolio business priorities set by the SLT.

  2. Manages the execution of the overall product/portfolio strategy and business plan.

  3. Manages new product efforts with cross-functional team.  Partners with Sales, R&D/Engineering, and Finance to develop realistic business cases with clearly defined financial objectives, risks, and resources needed. 

  4. Develops and works with Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Field Support, and Engineering to implement effective new product/STC launch and improvement plans that fully realize the opportunity in the market as quickly as possible.

  5. Provides business and financial justification for new product and/or STC offering suggestions.

  6. Provides business and financial justification for existing product improvement suggestions.

  7. Assesses and tracks competitive landscape, identifying Wipaire portfolio risks and gaps.

  8. Researches and analyzes market information and consumer insights for trends and opportunities to guide decisions and sets the portfolio’s strategic direction with the SLT.

  9. Partners with Marketing, Sales, and Engineering to enhance media effectiveness by translating Wipaire product features and benefits into compelling value propositions.

  10. Leads content plan development related to educational content, product improvements, and field support.

  11. Partners with Advanced Flight Training & Leasing (AFTL) and Sales to develop and standardize optimum demonstration practices that effectively differentiate Wipaire products and ensure consistent, high quality customer demonstration experiences.

Education, Experience and Credentials



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.

  • Eight years’ minimum related experience working with general aviation aircraft strongly preferred, including experience in product and/or project management strongly preferred.

  • Five years’ minimum marketing or sales experience required.

  • Strong technical acumen of general aviation practices as well as FAA regulation and processes related to aircraft operations strongly preferred.

  • Experience in new business development with the ability to network and build strong customer and industry partner relationships required.

  • Pilot license preferred.

  • Seaplane rating preferred.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% and may occur on an inconsistent basis depending on project need.

  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet. CRM (Salesforce) and ERP experience preferred.  Able to learn and utilize all available Wipaire software packages.

  • Familiarity with emerging aircraft system technologies and general aviation industry trends

  • Working knowledge of the FAA aircraft certification process and associated global regulatory authorities.

  • Able to maintain high quality standards and attention to detail in all facets of the work. Able to maintain utilization and efficiency standards.

  • Able to develop and give oral presentations to prospective and current industry partners in small and/or large groups as well as individuals inside and outside the organization.

  • Show professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.

  • Sit at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer.

  • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use and to review detailed reports and information.

  • Stand and walk in order to move around the office repeatedly throughout the day.
