Position Information

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Extension Associate will conduct applied economic and financial research in agricultural economics. The focus will be on U.S. beef production, particularly cow–calf and stocker enterprises. The Postdoctoral extension associate will help modernize and extend the Beef Cattle Standardized Performance Analysis (SPA) platform. The position blends scholarship (peer-reviewed publications, grant writing, data pipelines) with high-impact extension (producer workshops, briefs, and decision tools) in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. The ideal candidate is an independent, team-oriented researcher with strong quantitative skills and a passion for translating analytics into on-ranch decisions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop research and submit papers on economic and financial analysis of livestock and agricultural production.
  • Work in the development and improvement of the Beef Cattle Standard Performance Analysis (SPA).
  • Participate in extension activities, traveling to workshops, and assisting producers in the use of SPA.
  • Analyze databases and write extension briefs.
  • Collaborate in managing, organizing, and maintaining datasets.
  • Cooperate in writing grant proposals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Animal Science, and related fields.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in optimization methods and/or efficiency analysis (DEA, stochastic frontier, dynamic optimization).
  • Experience with production function estimation, panel data econometrics, and risk analysis.
  • Familiarity with U.S. cattle production systems
  • Familiarity with extension programs.
  • Expertise in the economics and financial analysis of beef production, especially cow-calf and stocker sectors.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed research (published, accepted, or strong working papers).

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to independently research, meets deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate; able to translate analytics into actionable guidance for producers.
  • Collaborative teammate comfortable working across research, extension, and industry partners.
  • Strong writing skills for both academic and producer audiences.
  • Proficient in managing, cleaning, imputing, and analyzing datasets.

What You Need to Know

Employment Location and Work Environment - Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center - Corpus Christi, TX.

Full-time on site; field travel across Texas as needed.

Candidate must be able to obtain work authorization in the US by the start date.
