Job Description
GENERAL DUTIES: Instructs students in preschool activities across all developmental areas, including language, social/ emotional, academic and behavioral growth Develops, implements and monitors the effectiveness of Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) for students who have been found eligible for special education services.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Dual Licensure Required

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification in Early Childhood

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification Moderate Special Needs

Experience working in an early elementary setting within a public school

Knowledge and understanding of Massachusetts Early Childhood Learning Standards, Social/Emotional Preschool Learning Standards and Special Education laws and regulations

Demonstrated ability to embed assistive technology into daily instruction, working knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, IPADs and other technology,

Experience working with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for Students with Disabilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide a tiered system of support, services and differentiated instruction and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.

Participate in Child Find Screenings, Student Intervention Team meetings and Special Education TEAM meetings.

Evaluate students using a range of assessment tools to determine students' learning needs, interpret assessment scores and write evaluation reports for eligibility determination, annual reviews and re-evaluations.

Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEP) in accordance with state regulations and district procedures; comply with all procedural requirements of Special Education law and regulations; maintain thorough, confidential and up to date records for individual students receiving special education services

Provide specially designed instruction accommodations and modifications as indicated in student’s IEPs in order to provide a FAPE in the least restrictive environment

Develop effective data collection systems in order to report on student progress toward IEP goals; Monitor and evaluate student outcomes and provide documentation of targeted interventions and students’ skill development

Direct and support paraprofessional to maximize inclusive opportunities and promote students’ skill development and positive growth

Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and parents regularly regarding strategies and approaches to facilitate students' academic, communication, and social skills in an educational environment or for home reinforcement.

Participate in curriculum planning and other building and department activities within the school and the district; promote a school atmosphere and environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students

Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.
Bachelor degree preferred.
