Preschool Teacher Position 

La Purísima School, Orange

 

La Purisima School is a vibrant Catholic elementary school and a proud member of Pax Christi Academies. We are dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and social growth of each child through the four pillars of Pax Christi Academies: Faith, Intellect, Character, and Citizenship.

 

We are seeking a dedicated, faith-filled, and creative Preschool Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will cultivate a nurturing and engaging classroom rooted in Catholic values, where young children are encouraged to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, academically, and physically. Through a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum, the teacher will foster curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration while building foundational early literacy, math, and language skills. 

Essential Functions: Because all Pax Christi Academies employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that support the growth of the whole child
  • Integrate Catholic faith and values into daily classroom activities and routines
    Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Follow California state licensing requirements and school policies, including Title 22 regulations

Qualifications:

  • Must meet or exceed California state licensing requirements for preschool teachers
  • Previous experience in a preschool or early childhood education setting preferred
  • Practicing Catholic 
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

 

Compensation:
Starting at $25-$30/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Conditions

  • Work primarily in a classroom and school campus setting, requiring frequent use of standard educational technology, and office equipment such as computers, telephones, projectors and printers.
  • Regular interaction with students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a professional and faith-based environment.
  • Follow a structured school schedule but often work additional hours to meet before or after school responsibilities for preparation, grading assignments, assigned tasks, attending school activities or events.
  • Some local travel may be required for meetings, training, field trips, or work‑related events.

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time with frequent walking and movement around the classroom, campus or office facilities to support programs and operational needs.
  • Speak clearly and project your voice to communicate with the classroom as a group, individual students, parents, colleagues, and fellow staff members.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating office equipment, preparing materials, and managing paperwork.
  • Visual and auditory ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and visitors in person, via email, and by phone. Maintain visual and auditory awareness to monitor student activities, read materials, and respond to classroom situations.
  • Must be able to set up and dismantle equipment required for meetings, programs, or campus activities as needed.
  • Bend, reach, or kneel when assisting students or handling classroom materials.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, such as materials, supplies, and event equipment.
