JOB TITLE: Press Brake Operator



DEPARTMENT: Production



REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor



CLASSIFICATION: Hourly



Purpose and Scope



The Press Brake Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating press brake equipment and plasma table machinery to fabricate metal components according to specifications and production requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, blueprint reading, and computer proficiency for machine programming, job tracking, and production processes.



Key Responsibilities




  • Operate press brake machinery to bend, form, and fabricate metal components according to blueprints and work instructions.

  • Operate plasma table equipment to cut parts and materials accurately and efficiently.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications to ensure product accuracy and quality standards are met.

  • Utilize computer systems and machine software to load programs, make adjustments, track production, and monitor job progress.

  • Perform machine setup, tooling changes, and minor program or machine adjustments as needed.

  • Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges to verify specifications.

  • Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move materials and finished products.

  • Maintain production efficiency while meeting quality and safety expectations.

  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance tasks.

  • Assist with material preparation, de-burring, grinding, and clean-up activities as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production needs and issues.

  • Support other production areas as needed and perform other duties as assigned.



Qualifications




  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience preferred.

  • Previous press brake and/or plasma table experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.

  • Strong basic math skills including fractions and decimals.

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills required.

  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes preferred.
