Job Description

Summary of Position: 

The Press Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating hydraulic and pneumatic press equipment used in the forming of ballistic plates and related armor components. This role includes loading materials, running press cycles, monitoring process parameters, performing quality checks, conducting preventive maintenance, and unloading finished parts to ensure consistent product quality and production flow.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate press machine according to established procedures ensuring consistent forming pressure, temperature, and dwell time per specifications.
  • Monitor press operations on a PLC to verify quality, cycle time, and tooling performance throughout the run.
  • Load and unload tools and materials into the press safely, using proper lifting techniques and equipment when needed.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance such as cleaning and inspecting press surfaces and reporting mechanical or electrical issues promptly.
  • Verify tooling alignment and ensure correct setup per work instructions or traveler documentation.
  • Operate crane equipment in order to move press tooling on and off the machines.
  • Collaborate with Leads, Engineers, and Management to troubleshoot process issues and implement improvements.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area following 5S standards and safety requirements.
  • Maintain a safety-first focus, prioritizing safety in all work activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Prior manufacturing, production, warehouse, assembly, or related hands-on work experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret work instructions, travelers, and production drawings.
  • Ability to use hand tools, gauges, and basic measurement equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Basic computer literacy

 

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the facility. Use of hands and arms to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Work in warehouse or production environments, which may include exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and changing temperatures.
