Zentis is Europe's number one fruit processing company and one of the leading brand manufacturers of jams, sweets, and custard-based desserts. The Company's North America operations are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Plymouth, Indiana, where we produce fruit and dairy preparations for a variety of customers including yogurt, ice cream and bakery manufacturers. We are currently looking to recruit a Technician for our Philadelphia location.


Product development technicians are responsible for cooking lab samples and following trials based on customer need. The samples must be representative of production based on plant location. They must assist the scientists and technologists on customer projects as needed. This will include color and flavor work. They will also be responsible for evaluating new innovative ingredients. Maintaining the lab space as a clean, organized space is essential. Technicians are also responsible for organizing and keeping up with paperwork as it pertains to lab and trial cookings


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation of new innovative ingredients. This includes setting up yogurt using the current control or other finished products for evaluation of color and flavor.
  • Responsible for completing color and flavor work for incoming projects. Follow trials and first production runs to ensure all steps are accurately followed on the production floor. This includes evaluating samples and reviewing paperwork with the scientists to ensure that the trials are properly run.
  • Communication with other team members on daily project work. Responsible for ordering all necessary ingredients. Capable of re-sampling customers and making minor adjustments to the formula based on the project entered in DMS. Responsible for preparing labels and packing slips for shipping to customer.
  • Maintain a clean and professional laboratory setting. Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment daily.


Formal Education Required:

  • Minimum requirement is a high school diploma or GED. Associate degree in culinary science is a plus. 4 year science degree has potential for promotion to Food Technologist.


Specific Experience and Key Knowledge Requirements:

  • 1 -2 years of experience in a restaurant or kitchen setting. Internships or experience in a food laboratory or production plant will be helpful. 


Special Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must have basic computer knowledge along with excel and word.
