Role Summary

The Product Manager, Logistics & Transportation is accountable for defining and executing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for transportation capabilities that support Advance Auto Parts’ end-to-end supply chain, with a focus on inbound import, domestic inbound, outbound replenishment, routing, freight audit and pay, and in-market transportation execution.

This role serves as a strategic leader at the intersection of transportation operations, supply chain, finance, and enterprise IT, driving scalable and integrated solutions that improve carrier planning, shipment visibility, routing optimization, cost control, and service performance across the network.

The Product Manager partners closely with transportation, replenishment, import, store operations, finance, and technology teams to translate complex logistics challenges into product capabilities that improve on-time performance, reduce transportation cost, strengthen carrier compliance, and enhance end-to-end shipment execution and visibility.

This role is based out of our corporate headquarters located in Raleigh, NC and is a hybrid work model (4 days in office, 1 day work from home)

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and long-term vision for logistics and transportation capabilities supporting inbound import, domestic inbound, outbound replenishment, routing, freight audit and pay, and in-market delivery operations

  • Partner with transportation operations, replenishment, import, finance, and store support teams to identify pain points, prioritize opportunities, and deliver solutions that improve service, visibility, and cost performance

  • Own the product lifecycle for transportation platforms and workflows, from discovery and business case development through implementation, rollout, adoption, and continuous improvement

  • Develop and prioritize product backlogs, epics, and user stories aligned to core transportation workflows including load planning, routing, tendering, appointment scheduling, carrier execution, shipment tracking, exception management, and freight settlement

  • Lead initiatives that improve inbound import planning and execution, domestic inbound flow, outbound replenishment routing, and in-market transportation coordination across distribution centers, market hubs, and stores

  • Drive product improvements across core systems used today, including Appian, Direct Route, and Blue Yonder Transportation Management System, while enabling effective integration with ERP, warehouse, order management, and finance platforms

  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure transportation solutions using APIs, workflow orchestration, event-driven integration, and operational data

  • Support freight audit and pay capabilities by improving data quality, exception handling, carrier compliance, and coordination with finance and accounts payable processes

  • Lead cross-functional agile teams spanning IT, supply chain, logistics operations, finance, and external partners to deliver high-impact transportation capabilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between transportation operations, replenishment planning, import teams, finance, and technology delivery teams

  • Influence senior stakeholders on product strategy, prioritization, carrier and routing capabilities, and trade-offs across cost, service, scalability, and operational risk

  • Champion a data-driven, operations-first mindset using transportation KPIs, shipment execution data, exception trends, and user feedback to guide investment decisions

  • Define and track KPIs such as on-time pickup and delivery, routing efficiency, tender acceptance, cost per mile, cost per shipment, invoice accuracy, dwell time, and freight claim or exception rates

  • Analyze product and operational performance data to drive prioritization, process standardization, and continuous optimization across the transportation network

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise standards for security, resiliency, financial controls, and operational continuity across transportation platforms and processes

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including legacy process modernization, workflow automation, transportation visibility, and technical debt reduction across logistics systems

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to connect technology investments to transportation service, cost, and control outcomes

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills across logistics operations, finance, and technology leadership

  • Ability to influence senior leaders on complex transportation, routing, and freight management decisions

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity in large-scale transportation and supply chain environments
