Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production & Technology Engineer reports directly to the Manager of Event Technology and is responsible for the shaping of the overall Audio/Visual experience here at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as the training of Audio/Visual Technicians.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

  • Provide professional front-of-house mixing for all major events on or off-campus
  • Oversee audio systems upgrades for event spaces around campus along with the Manager of Event Technology.
  • Provide high-level audio training for part-time technicians.
  • Provide production leadership for major event setups (Stage design, equipment rentals if need be, schedule, etc.)
  • Maintain industry-standard audio capabilities for all event spaces on campus
  • Work closely with the Event Planning team to ensure all event audio needs are assessed and scheduled in a timely manner.
  • Provide limited recording and sound services to various departments on campus.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION:

The person in this position should have an associate’s degree or certificate in audio engineering or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

The person in this position should have at least one year of experience in professional sound design and engineering, specifically front-of-house mixing.

SUPERVISION:

The person in this position will supervise part-time Audio/Visual Technicians and part-time Audio Engineers.

The person in this position will report to the Manager of Event Technology.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The person in this position will work in all event spaces and auditoriums on campus as well as off-campus event venues as needed.

EQUIPMENT:

The person in this position will use the following equipment:  professional audio/visual equipment standard to event spaces on campus (Logic Pro X, ProPresenter, Hog 4 lighting console, Allen & Heath DLive series mixers).
