Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aerospace Compression Molder to join our composite manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining compression molding presses to fabricate high-strength, lightweight composite parts used in commercial and defense aircraft. You will work with advanced materials, such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and specialized thermoset resins while adhering to strict aerospace quality standards and engineering specifications.

The Production Assembler 4 acts as technical specialist and performs complex mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly operations, in accordance with company policy and safety procedures.

Hours: 3:00PM - 11:30PM

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Press Operation: Operate hydraulic or mechanical compression molding presses according to specific manufacturing routing sheets and tool blueprints.
  • Material Preparation: Measure, cut, and weigh composite raw materials (pre-pregs, molding compounds, and sheets) ensuring precise ply placement and orientation inside the mold matrix.
  • Tooling & Maintenance: Clean, assemble, and prepare mold cavities using appropriate release agents. Perform basic preventative maintenance on molds and press equipment.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor and record critical curing parameters, including cycle times, temperatures, and pressures, to ensure structural integrity and prevent defects like voids or delamination.
  • Post-Mold Processing: Safely demold cured parts, trim flash, and perform initial visual inspections for surface defects, warppage, or incomplete fills.
  • Quality Assurance & Documentation: Maintain strict traceability by accurately logging material batch numbers, press settings, and inspection results in accordance with AS9100 and NADCAP standards.

Minimum Qualification

Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED        

 Experience: 2+ years of experience in compression molding, composite layup, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred but not required (aerospace or automotive industry highly preferred). 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operational job work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Able to perform basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Precision Measurement: Proficient with basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and weight scales.
  • Attention to Detail: Deep understanding of how small variances in temperature, pressure, or material contamination can impact the safety and performance of an aircraft component.

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and handle hot tooling safely using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
