Job Description
Role Overview:
The Process Engineering Manager leads process engineering activities in support of manufacturing operations, product quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable, scalable, and aligned with safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
The Process Engineering Manager provides strategic technical leadership while maintaining hands-on involvement in process development, optimization, production planning, scheduling, and operational data management. This position supervises Process and Manufacturing Engineers.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Process Development & Optimization
  • Develop and implement manufacturing process strategies aligned with production goals and business objectives
  • Lead process design, validation, and documentation for new and existing products
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, waste reduction, labor efficiency, and cost control
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, variability, and non-value-added activities
  • Standardize work instructions, process documentation, and engineering controls
Manufacturing Support & Technical Leadership
  • Provide day-to-day support to manufacturing operations, troubleshoot process issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Partner with Production to improve yield, uptime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Evaluate and recommend tooling, equipment, and automation improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis for process deviations and production gaps
Planning, Scheduling & Data Support
  • Collaborate with Planning and Operations to integrate process considerations into production schedules
  • Provide input on cycle times, capacity, and resource availability for scheduling
  • Support schedule feasibility reviews and help mitigate bottlenecks
  • Maintain ERP/MES systems and ensure accurate operational data collection
  • Develop dashboards and reports on process performance metrics such as yield, scrap, cycle time, labor efficiency
Product & Process Support
  • Support customer needs through robust, scalable manufacturing processes
  • Define equipment, tooling, and facility requirements for new processes
  • Ensure smooth transition from specified design to full production
  • Ensure processes meet internal quality standards and customer specifications
  • Implement process controls and monitoring systems to ensure repeatability and compliance
  • Support corrective and preventive actions and audit readiness
 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 7+ years of progressive process or manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes and driving operational results
  • Knowledge of production systems, equipment, tooling, and process controls
  • Experience supporting planning, scheduling, and operational data systems
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
Preferred Experience
  • PE license or advanced technical degree
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • ERP/MES implementation or optimization experience
  • ISO or comparable quality management systems
  • Mid-sized manufacturing or industrial experience
