Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Global Grain and Processing group. We are looking for a Production Manager at our ethanol plant in Annawan, IL. The Production Manager will lead the plant ethanol production team and oversee daytoday, continuous, and safe operations of the ethanol facility. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, analytical, with the ability to lead effectively, and influence others.

Responsibilities

  •  Oversee operations for the ethanol production team and the facility
  •  Develop and implement a long-term continuous optimization program
  •  Develop and manage all production budgets and address budget shortfall prior to cost overruns
  •  Collaborate with the Lab team to ensure critical samples/data is collected and communicated broadly across all operation teams
  •  Work closely with the Lab Manager to develop and execute a corrective action plan and ensure all QA/QC specifications are met
  •  Coordinate plant activities with the Commercial Team
  •  Work with the Engineering Team to develop and execute the operational capital and expense project plan
  •  Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Team to troubleshoot, execute the preventative maintenance plan, and help plan maintenance activities to ensure the facility is well maintained and operating properly at all times
  •  Ensure high levels of productivity, efficiency, safety and team performance
  •  Establish performance standards, metrics and monitoring systems for all assigned operations
  •  Drive key initiatives (Safety, Environmental Compliance, Plant uptime, Skill Block Training,, etc.)
  •  Define the roles/structure and staffing for the Production team (right people in the right jobs)
  •  Establish strong, collaborative relationships with all department/functions at CHS Annawan
  •  Champion new ideas to drive organization effectiveness
  •  Visibly support, monitor, coach, and recognize operations teams
  •  Support and ensure Production Teams adhere to high standards of organizational collaboration, alignment, and enthusiastic assistance of other functions
  •  Actively engage in and lead the implementation and use of LEAN as a continuous improvement methodology in the plant
  •  Approach every task with safety as the first work consideration. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Identify and mitigate hazards before starting work tasks. Maintain situational awareness to identify and mitigate potential hazards while performing work tasks

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Associate degree (additional years of product management experience may offset degree requirement)
  • 3 plus years of experience in operations and management of employees in a processing facility
  • 3 plus years supervisory and/or leadership experience
  • Proficient with MS Excel and Word
  • Familiar with computerized plant distributed control systems (DCS)

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in a corn ethanol, corn wet mill, corn dry mill and/or oilseed processing facilities
  • Experience in Food or Beverage Processing, Chemical, Bio‐Tech, and Pharma industries

Physical Requirements

  • Able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 120ft
  • Able to stand, walk, and climb stairs continuously
  • Able to work in noisy, dusty, and all weather conditions
  • Able to pass pre-employment medical and fit test for respirator use
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
