Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for meeting and exceeding all store production goals while ensuring efficient, safe, and organized operations. This role oversees and develops all production and dock staff and serves as the acting Store Manager in the Store Manager’s absence to ensure smooth day-to-day store operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who brings energy, accountability, and a commitment to mission-driven work.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure quotas are met (piece count per department, skid count, etc.)
  • Assign staff accurately and ensure tasks are completed timely and efficiently
  • Ensure consistent quality standards for items, pricing, and tagging
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production and dock environment
  • Train, develop, and coach all production and dock staff on policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Monitor employee performance and provide timely feedback
  • Conduct employee counseling and complete documentation for corrective actions when needed
  • Record and input daily production data, including skid counts
  • Lead with effective communication and enthusiasm to motivate the production team
  • Ensure donations are processed to maximize sales and minimize waste
  • Monitor waste and rag gaylords to prevent disposal of sellable items
  • Oversee loading and unloading of trucks
  • Monitor supply levels and order materials as needed

  • Ensure compliance with all VOAMI policies and procedures
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff and external vendors
  • Ensure duties are carried out in a timely and orderly manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated growth in responsibility and performance through prior experience
  • Knowledge of retail or store management, including personnel supervision, inventory control, POS systems, cash handling, and basic safety practices
  • Understanding of basic personnel and workplace safety laws
  • Ability to hire, train, motivate, coach, and discipline staff
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle customer concerns and resolve disputes professionally
  • Ability to assess store needs and adapt quickly
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Flexibility to work various hours and travel as needed
  • Commitment to the VOAMI mission
  • Must maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license with an insurable driving record

 

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Merchandising Management, Advertising, or a related field and at least three (3) years of retail management experience
    OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
