Description
Primary Responsibilities:
· Responsible for second shift production operation.
· Develop and maintain an environment conducive to employee trust and value.
· Develop and maintain an environment conducive to quick recognition of safety hazards and corrective action. Target zero accidents.
· Earn rapport with department peers and support departments (maintenance, sanitation, shipping/receiving, etc.) and maintain “team” status.
· Be a change leader within and across teams facilitating all improvement opportunities.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand production schedule and ensure resources are assigned to meet schedule
- Walk the floor frequently to ensure processes are on schedule, employees are focused, identify barriers, ensure communication and coordination, and identify any safety hazards
- Monitor product quality continuously throughout the plant by ensuring all product and process specifications are in control
- Meet with other shift leadership to facilitate orderly shift transfer
- Ensure all shift manpower requirements are covered
- Keep up with attendance and production routine updates and shift reports
- Control labor cost, i.e., staff size and review time off requests for approval
- Plan and oversee training and cross training of shift personnel
- Proficient use of Lean and Continuous Improvement processes and tools to enhance safety, quality and productivity performance
- Participate and or lead the team in Kaizen’s and other Continuous Improvement practices
- Mentor employees and teams to embrace one standard in all processes
- Execute employee skill and performance evaluations
- Must understand critical success indicators and control them to ensure operation success
- Must understand the magnitude and responsibility associated with their role in the Company. It is one of leadership and support of others while maintaining a reputation for integrity and trust.
Requirements
· Experience
· 3 to 5 years minimum Bakery industry high speed production experience, full process from mixing through baking and into packaging minimum, with 5 year’s management experience.
· Lean manufacturing experience.
· People performance management and coaching with good communication skills.
· Analytical – able to interpret data pointing to issues and conclusions.
· Problem solving – gather information, understands root cause, manages process change.
· Computer proficiency with ERP and Microsoft suite applications.
· Education
· College degree, or equivalent work experience with demonstrated learning and development capabilities
