Summary of Job Content: 

The Production Operator reports to the Production Supervisor with responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of heavy machinery in the assigned production process area to produce quantity and quality electrodes and support the production plan at Resonac Graphite America Inc. electrode manufacturing facility. 


Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification. 
  • 1–5 years of experience in heavy manufacturing, construction, industrial services, or operating forklifts, cranes, or CNC equipment; or a 2-year degree with related experience. 

Skills & Competencies

  • Basic computer and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work safely using required PPE (respirators, protective clothing, fall protection, etc.).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform duties by RGA Code of Conduct and Company policy, applicable laws, regulations, and company regulations. 
  • Perform all duties in a professional, legal, and ethical manner. 
  • Actively promote safe work practices. Support HSE safety and loss control policies, procedures, and objectives. 
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing Operations and general plant work activity and make recommendations as appropriate to help foster a safe work environment throughout the plant. 
  • Adhere to and support RGA’s environmental management system. Foster environmental awareness of environmental behavior of team and all operations personnel. Maintains job ownership by arriving on time, staying on task, and taking pride in one’s work to contribute to better output and reaching production goals. 
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other heavy industrial equipment to move products through the production process. 
  • Use gages such as micrometers, depth gages, and digital & dial indicators to measure product adherence to specifications. 
  • Enter inspection and process data into a computer database. 
  • Operate specialized equipment as assigned. 
  • Prepare machinery and equipment for use. 
  •  Keep the work area clean and maintain housekeeping to establish 5S/3F standards. 
  • Communicate information to others in the production area and other levels of the plant regarding equipment problems and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Complies with company policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices. 
  • Applies independence and initiative by performing job duties with limited supervision. 
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions and perform duties according to the defined quality process.
