HEAD START/EARLY HEAD START
BEDFORD & FULTON COUNTIES
FULL TIME – 1st SHIFT
MONDAY-FRIDAY SCHEDULE
The Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Bedford and Fulton counties work in partnership with families to build children’s and parents’ strength, promote self-esteem, and encourage self-sufficiency and lifelong learning. This position will provide program and administrative support for the Head Start/Early Head Start administrative office to include human resources, finance, office management, clerical duties, and record keeping.
Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for routine HR and personnel management, including compiling and reporting data for executive review, as well as recommending solutions to personnel and administrative problems. This includes, but is not limited to: maintaining time records, keeping food reimbursements records, computing travel expense allotments, and maintaining accurate records.
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-department personnel as well as with other departments within the organization to assure that administrative services and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the Head Start/Early Head Start office.
- Maintain confidentially of all information and release in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure that administrative functions are carried out promptly for an efficient operation.
- Maintain all accrued benefits, reports, time, and attendance records.
- Keeps current on all personnel policies and shares changes with pertinent staff team members.
- Participate in meetings and committees involving administrative functions as requested.
- Complete necessary forms and assist with required Head Start/Early Head Start program reports as directed.
- Keep personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting their job.
- Keep employee files current, including updating physical and tuberculin tests.
- Maintain current personnel records on all Children’s Services staff.
- Works with various personnel issues to include the following areas:
- becomes familiar with staff departments and codes, and is able to use them accurately.
- helps track staff’s hours and benefits so adjustments can be made when necessary
- becomes familiar with new staff forms and the completion of these forms
Qualifications:
- Required high school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred to possess an Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or a related degree from a secretarial/business school or equivalent experience or accounting skills.
- Two years of experience in an administrative secretarial support capacity.
- Proficient in data entry, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of office machines and equipment.
- Experience in a fast paced office setting is a plus.
