Varied schedule based on program needs. Shifts may be scheduled during the following hours:
Monday–Thursday: between 6:15 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.
Friday: between 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
Saturday–Sunday: between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.
Salary Range: $18.22 -$24.64/hour
In this role, the incumbent will serve as the visible point of contact for private events and during our regular operating hours. Primary responsibilities include performing a variety of tasks related to the City and County’s Recreation Services function and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.
This is NOT a seasonal position; candidates must be available on a year-round basis.Position Duties
Supervises opening and closing of Recreation/Senior Center and other facilities as scheduled.
May Organize, schedule and supervise activities, personnel, volunteers, and maintenance of facilities including weight rooms, Gymnasium, and cardio, studios and reservation rooms.
Responsible for ensuring proper set-up and take-down of necessary equipment needed for programs or functions.
Provides security for recreation centers and grounds.
Enforces all rules and regulations of programs and facilities; ensures that the facility is safe for use.
Ensures all scheduled staff are present to perform assigned duties.
Working knowledge of specific program area.
Ability to assist in recruitment and training of temporary and/or part time employees.
Perform certain administrative duties within each program/special events/clinics, including scheduling, training, evaluating,supervising and instructing in a variety of facilities.
Assists in organizing and implementing programming for specific areas of recreation.
Supervises participants/staff during programs by enforcing program and building policies.
Models appropriate behavior, and communicates openly and effectively.
Responsible for safety of self, staff, participants, equipment and facilities.
Reports incidents to Supervisor, submits appropriate completed forms within 24 hours.
Complies with City and County policies, procedures and standards.
Operates a personal computer and accompanying software programs. Operates a motor vehicle for travel between facilities.
Identifies and recommends improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure functions are efficient and cost effective.
Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.
Assists in the daily/weekly cleaning, maintenance, and safety inspections
Responsible for set-up and takedown of necessary equipment needed for programs or functions
Minimum Qualifications
Training, Experience, and Education
High school graduate or GED equivalent. Some college-level education in recreation, physical education, or education preferred.
Must possess valid AED, First Aid and CPR certifications within 30 days of hire.
6 months experience in Recreation Programming in the specific program area.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must possess a First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire, and maintained for continued employment.
- If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.
Other Qualifications
Physical demands are described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
Work is scheduled for a variety of hours to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Must provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the participant during instruction which includes a full range of physical abilities including: performing and maintaining aerobic exercise, bending, stretching, and lifting minimal weight.
Working in the Recreation Division may require indoor and outdoor activities.
Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or equipment.
Required to hear; stand; bend or twist from the upper body; use hands and/or feet to perform manual tasks such as spotting; reach with hands and arms; squat; and climb or balance.
Visual abilities including close, distant, depth, peripheral are required.
