We’re looking for talented personnel to join our Ashore Support Engineering Team, located at our Chesapeake, VA office. As a Program Support Engineer, you will be responsible for oversight and quality control functions within shipboard automated maintenance management systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as Program Support Engineer assigned to our customer programs.
• Serve as a consultant to the Shipboard Management Team, working closely with afloat and ashore team members in the life cycle management of the vessel.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAMM Ashore and Afloat modules, taking ownership of technical issues in the program of record and driving resolution internally and externally.
• Assist the customer in troubleshooting and navigating maintenance support modules.
• Assist personnel with work package development and documentation of work performed during shipyard availabilities.
• Review ship availability plan of action and milestones (POAMS) and other shipyard availability information for data quality and policy compliance.
• Train shipboard personnel on the use of maintenance management software, document work performed, and prepare debriefs for the customer(s).
• Tracking the status of the assigned vessel maintenance activities, reporting on compliance, maintenance efficiency, and assisting the ship and Port Engineers in completing items.
• Working with the Program Managers, Port Engineers, and Shipboard Engineers in correcting data quality errors.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Data Analysis, or related skills
• 4+ years of experience as a government or commercial Port Engineer, or experience with a classification or flag state authority, with direct exposure to vessel regulatory compliance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
• Strong research, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
• Strong verbal, written, and communication skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
• A Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) in Engineering
• Recent sailing experience with Military Sealift Command or U.S. Merchant Marine
