About This Position
Be a part of the IPX Project Controls team, and deliver financial visibility and budget discipline needed to successfully execute utility-scale energy projects. The candidate will partner closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams across Development, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations, and support critical construction phase decision-making through accurate forecasting, reporting, and cost-analysis.
This role plays a key part in ensuring project budgets remain aligned with business objectives while providing stakeholders with timely, actionable insights. You will contribute to active projects simultaneously, helping drive accountability, financial accuracy, and operational excellence throughout the construction lifecycle.
What You’ll Do:
Drive Budget Management & Reporting
- Manage Budgets and monthly cost reporting for multiple construction projects.
- Maintain detailed project cost tracking using Google Sheets and /or Google Workspace-based reporting.
- Support monthly reporting cycles by providing accurate budget updates, cost analyses, and project performance metrics.
- Ensure project stakeholders have timely and reliable financial information to support decision-making.
Deliver Accurate Forecasting and Cost Controls
- Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts in collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Prepare estimate-to-complete forecasts and identify potential budget variances.
- Manage monthly contingency tracking and reporting activities.
- Support proactive budget management by identifying risks, trends, and opportunities throughout the project execution.
Support Contract and Invoice Management
- Review contractor and vendor invoices to verify accuracy and appropriate cost category assignments.
- Perform earned value reporting for major project contracts, including EPC, module, and battery suppliers.
- Digitally maintain invoices, lien waivers, and support documentation files for project review and audit readiness.
- Submit wire requests and support payment processing for construction-related invoices.
Enable Project Decision Making
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and executive-ready reporting materials for Project Managers and leadership.
- Conduct financial and budget analyses that support project strategy decision-making.
- Participate in weekly project meetings to provide budget updates and financial insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment on project performance and financial objectives.
Improve Process and Team Effectiveness
- Development and document standard operating procedures for project budget management processes.
- Support training initiatives and knowledge sharing across the Project Controls team.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and process consistency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen project financial controls.
Primavera P6 (scheduling experience is a plus)
- Experience developing and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles.
- Ability to perform schedule analysis, progress updates, variance reporting, and forecasting.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional project teams to identify schedule risks and development recovery plans.
- Familiarity with integrating project schedules with cost control and earned value management processes is a plus.
Administrative Support
- Review, verify, and process project invoices for accuracy and compliance with contracts, purchase orders, and project requirements.
- Maintain and update project budget trackers, cost reports, and expenditure logs.
- Assist with project cost forecasting and monitor budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track and maintain lien waivers and other subcontractor compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with accounting, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
- Maintain project documentation, logs, and records to ensure accuracy, organization, and audit readiness.
- Assist with change order tracking, purchase order management, and project financial reporting.
- Prepare project status reports and support monthly project reviews.
- Monitor project commitments, costs, and billing to help identify budget variances and potential financial risks.
- Provide general administrative support to project teams, including document management, meeting coordination, and other project-related tasks as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple project budgets simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced expert-level proficiency in Google Sheets, including complex formulas, data analysis, and macro-enabled workbooks.
- Strong experience developing project cash-flow forecasts, cost reports, and estimate-to-complete analyses.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, concise Power Point presentations and executive communications.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Slack
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within project financial data.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple active projects.
- Collaborative communication style that enables effective partnerships across technical, financial, and operational teams.
- A proactive, continuous-improvement mindset that helps drive consistency, efficiency, and accuracy in the project controls process.
