The Project Engineer I plays an essential role in supporting the Project Manager and project team during all phases of construction. This entry-level position assists in coordinating documentation, communication, and field operations to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Engineer I works collaboratively with subcontractors, vendors, design teams, and owners to facilitate effective project execution and maintain the highest quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in daily project management and coordination activities.
• Prepare, process, and track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and related correspondence.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, daily reports, and logs.
• Attend project meetings and assist in recording and distributing minutes and action items.
• Support the development and maintenance of project schedules and budgets.
• Perform site observations and assist in preparing field reports.
• Help ensure that project plans, specifications, and quality standards are followed.
• Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals.
• Assist with closeout documentation, including punch lists, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings.
• Support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company and project safety programs.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 0–2 years of relevant construction experience (internship or co-op experience a plus).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to visit and work on active construction sites, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
