POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the effective management of industrial projects from order acceptance through engineering, installation, and client acceptance while meeting completion date, financial, safety, and customer satisfaction objectives. This role also includes the responsibility of building positive and effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage projects to ensure final profit is at or above projected profit goal
- Manage projects to ensure date of final client acceptance is on or before scheduled date
- Manage projects to ensure zero reportable safety incidents – review with on-site Foreman to provide a safe work environment with a team trained on all required safety protocols
- Achieve a job site safety inspection report of 98% or higher
- Ensure all labor, materials, and information required for project success is provided in advance
- Complete all final documentation and finish punch list within 5-days of client acceptance
- Ensure site specific safety plan is developed and rolled out prior to day-1 of work activity
- Conduct effective project Kick-off/Turnover meetings with designated project team – review and collaborate on quote, budget, schedule, timeline, and overall scope of project
- Conduct weekly or bi-weekly project review meetings with Foreman – RFI’s, Schedules, 3-Week Labor Forecast, Cost to Budget, On-Site Scope to Quote, BIM, Vendor Deliverables, Accounting Submittals
- Attend monthly project review meeting to review project costs and schedule
- Conduct comprehensive project review meeting for all closed jobs to provide a Lessons Learned opportunity to learn what was Right, Wrong, Confusing, Missing
- Set-up project details in relevant company software and systems
- Work with Project Teams
- Manage project labor and material to achieve desired project outcomes, continuously monitoring projects and reporting progress on a monthly basis, taking corrective action when necessary to solve problems and remove roadblocks
- Ensure quality of workmanship meet company standards and identify areas for improvement
- Enforce company’s safety policy, providing effective training for foremen and ensuring correct training levels for other staff including apprentices and new employees, and ensuring that all electrical codes, safety codes, and proper work practices specific to each client are followed
- Attend weekly or bi-weekly progress meetings with all trades on-site to review project status to enable proactive actions to remove any potential roadblocks
- Solicit, negotiate, review, and administer contracts with critical suppliers and contractors
- Issue purchase orders (POs) for major component/supplies and subcontractors as required per project scope
- Maximize project profitability while building positive relationships and a positive image for the company
- Maximize project cash-flow through careful planning and implementation of expenditures to achieve stated project milestones in conjunction with progress invoicing
- Ensure all project related documentation is prepared including shop drawings and client/owner maintenance instructions as needed
- Support project on-site Foreman in all ways to ensure his/her success
Experience and Education
- B.S/B.A./A.S in Business, Management, Electrical Engineering or Technology or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in construction sciences
- 5-7 years minimum related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the management of industrial electrical projects
- Electrical systems knowledge and ability to read and understand electrical drawings, P&IDs and process mechanical drawings
