Project Manager

Location: Salt Lake City Area, Utah (Project sites throughout Northern Utah – travel between job sites may be required)

Pay: DOE


Position Summary

Kinkaid Civil Construction (KCC) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support and lead heavy civil construction projects throughout the Greater Salt Lake City area. This individual will oversee projects from pre-construction through closeout while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has proven experience managing heavy civil projects involving underground utilities, earthwork, grading, roadway improvements, and related infrastructure. This role requires a strong leader who can effectively partner with Superintendents, Project Engineers, Foremen, subcontractors, and owners to deliver successful projects while maintaining KCC's commitment to Safety, Values, and People.

Essential Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage projects from pre-construction through final completion and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Monitor production, quantities, and overall project performance to ensure profitability goals are achieved.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage project budgets and cost controls.
  • Analyze financial performance and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and change orders.
  • Review subcontractor agreements and invoices.
  • Forecast labor, equipment, and material requirements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership and support to Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen.
  • Mentor team members and promote professional development.
  • Foster collaboration and accountability across project teams.
  • Support KCC's culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Client Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants, municipalities, and business partners.
  • Represent KCC professionally throughout project execution.
  • Address project concerns proactively and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Safety & Compliance

  • Support and reinforce KCC's safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and corrective action efforts.

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Experience managing underground utility, earthwork, grading, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout Northern Utah as project needs require.

Preferred

  • Experience with underground wet utilities including water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Experience with public works and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Procore
    • Bluebeam
    • HCSS
    • Microsoft Project
    • Smartsheet
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
