Job Description

Job Summary

This position is responsible to execute the transfer plan to the Tijuana facility, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner to support project schedules, communicating with all the stakeholders.

Ultimately leading the project to a timely and successful conclusion.

The scope of the position includes: indirect leadership of a cross-functional project teams (customer service, operations, engineering, quality), project cost management & productivity targets, and customer communication related to the project in coordination with Business Unit Manager(s) to ensure customer support.

Salary Range: $110k - $140k

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide the cross-functional team to maintain clear focus and priorities
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
  • Focus on value creation - specifically productivity savings
  • Manage multiple projects between Kirkhill's Brea and Tijuana locations which may be expanded between other Transdigm locations and Kirkhill's Tijuana location
  • Ensure that project-based activities are carried out in accordance with specific objectives & timelines to achieve productivity targets
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Direct & coordinate project activities cross-functional team(s) that includes: sales, customer service, engineering, supply chain, production planning, operations, quality and finance
  • Adjust project schedules and targets as needs or financing for the project change
  • Develop project plans and monitors those plans to ensure on-time completion
  • Serve as customer point of contact in coordination with Business Unit Manager/Sales
  • Track program costs as required to make sure that the projects are completed within budget
  • Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies
  • Coordinate any engineering efforts with customer engineering
  • Direct and coordinate activities concerned with implementation and carrying out project objectives
  • Prepare weekly project reports (that include results/metrics) for supervisor and management
  • Keeps area clean according to 5S standards
  • Follows all compliance safety rules as set by the company
  • Perform risk management to minimize potential risks
  • Effectively manage and execute project deliverables within time and budget
  • Use project management tools to maintain project visibility
  • Effectively communicate project status to Internal/ External stakeholders as well as the Senior Management team
  • Coordinate the necessary activities with Sub-Contractors i.e. Hard Tooling, Inserts, subcomponents, etc
  • Lead R&D efforts in product and process improvement
  • Provide technical leadership in supporting a product line or customer
  • Use Lean Manufacturing processes during the product transfer cycle
  • Assist with documentation of manufacturing processes
  • Train other employees as required
  • Perform make/ buy analysis
  • Design tooling, fixtures and jigs to facilitate manufacturing of new products
  • Extend support to manufacturing and other departments when required
  • Support problem solving efforts
  • Maintain knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, equipment, testing techniques and concepts
  • Direct and coordinate activities concerned with implementation and carrying out project objectives
  • Review reports and records of activities to ensure progress toward specific goals
  • Modify methodology/approach as needed to redirect activities, project activities and to attain productivity goals
  • Working closely with the manufacturing site during the development stages of new product designs or product improvements in order to incorporate manufacturability considerations and ensure items are manufactured in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Mexico duplicate manufacturing project. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; and resolving any problems as they come up. No direct reports.

Qualifications

  • Strong technology skills including the ability to proficiently utilize computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Project. Ability to use AutoCAD, Catia or similar drawing software is required along with the use of scheduling databases for program monitoring.
  • Ability to direct, coordinate, and exercise authority in a matrix reporting structure for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of assigned projects.
  • Can submit status report of activities as required.
  • Communication and Presentation skills required. Will present to Executive Management team.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Five years of experience in Operations-based Project Management and/or Engineering with industrial Aerospace experience

  • Excellent business sense with a capacity to be sensitive to cost drivers.
  • Creative and progressive thinking with an ability to adapt to rapid change.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
