SALARY

 
The minimum salary is $65,700.96 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.
Pay Grade 523

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

The purpose of this classification is to develop and execute a branding/marketing plan and act as media and public relations coordinator for assigned area to ensure appropriate communications and information sharing both internally and with the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job
  • Six (6) years of related experience
  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
  • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 
  • Creates and edits content for media communication to include: print, radio, television, internet, and intranet
  • Performs media interviews and manages media inquiries
  • Generates story ideas for the media and makes public appearances and speeches
  • Provides communications support, and creates and conducts public relations training
  • Enhances relationship with the media and the public
  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

 

Valid Driver's License; and depending on area of assignment:

  • The Division of Community Corrections:
  • Completion of ICS100, ICS200, ICS300, ICS400 ICS700, ICS800 and IS29 training within first six (6) months of employment as a condition for permanent appointment.

 

  • The Division of Police:
  • Must obtain Kentucky Law Enforcement Council Instructor Certification based on availability upon hire

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 
  • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical and polygraph as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16
  • Must be available for some after hours, holidays and call-back duty.
  • Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
